Today remembered my great grandmother’s sister. Long time back when we were in school, guess I was in 5th or 6th standard, we had made a Kerala trip. Kerala Trip usually consisted of visiting all your relatives and also the long lost ones.
We went to meet my mom’s cousin place and there was her grandmother too. Her grandmother was my mom’s maternal grandmom’s little sister. Sweet old lady wearing chatta and mundu (traditional kerala christian dress as in white top shirt and white wrap around) and kunukku in her ears. (Image courtesy : Good to remember her as she was running around us telling children have this and have that. She is the one who gave us candied mangoes. Ate that in her place for the first time. Saw freshly milked milk there. As city bred kids accustomed to milk in packets, it was nice to see fresh milk straight off the cow and how it retained the warmth.
It just reminded me of a lifestyle so different and a lifestyle which probably I won’t be able to show my children. She is long gone but in the brief time we were there that sweet lady made our holidays a little more memorable.
